Symposium venue

The CESBP 2019 will be held in the campus of the Czech Technical University in Prague at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which is one of the largest schools providing civil engineering university education world-wide. Over the years, graduates from the school have created engineering works which have laid grounds for the school's famous historical tradition. Keeping with the tradition of excellence, today's graduates exhibit a high quality of engineering craftsmanship and skills. he Faculty of Civil Engineering (FCE) is one of the largest colleges of the Czech Technical University. The academic community comprises approximately 3 500 students and 600 teaching and research staff.

How to get to the symposium:
Metro - line A (green) - station Dejvická
Tram - lines 1, 2, 20, 22, 26 - station Thákurova
Tram - line 18 - station Lotyšská
Bus - lines 116, 143, 180 - station Dejvická

Connection from the airport: Bus line 119 to Nádraží Veleslavín, then Metro line A (green) to Dejvická.

Accommodation

The conferece secretary would like to offer you the arrangement of accommodation for  special symposium prices for your stay during CESBP 2019 in selected partner hotels. Alternatively, you can choose your accommodation from variety of facilities in the neighborhood of the symposium venue. We recommend you to use some of travel metasearch engines (e.g. booking.com, hotels.com, trivago, airbnb etc.). Please keep in mind that the accommodation capacities are limited. As the symposium dates are in Prague's high season, we would like to encourage you to book your room as soon as possible. Please see below the list of accommodation facilities arranged by conference secretary. In case of your interest, please fill in the Accommodation form and return it to secretary@cesbp2019.org before July 31, 2019.

 

Hotel Waldstein **** (Valdštejnské náměstí 6/19, Prague 1)

The hotel is in the middle of the pitoresque part of the city center called Lesser Town (Malá Strana). Vienna House Diplomat Prague **** (Evropská 15, Prague 6)

The Vienna House Diplomat Prague is located in the peaceful diplomatic district, close to the historical city center. It offers a modern spa area. The state-of-the-art health and fitness centre includes a sauna, a steam bath, and a hot tub. Beauty and massage treatments are available.

The Japanese restaurant Katsura is renown for it its famous sushi.

Hotel International Prague **** (Koulova 15, Prague 6)

 

Set in American Art Deco style, Hotel International Prague is located in a quiet residential area, directly opposite to the Podbaba tram station. Prague citycentre is 2 km away and the Dejvická metro station is reachable within a 10-minutes walk.

The historic building offers air-conditioned rooms with high ceilings and views over Prague. Fitness centre is available on site.

Guests can relax in the on-site cocktail bar and the café in the high-ceilinged lobby area that offers a unique atmosphere. Hotel restaurant Symphonia offers a number of specialities of Czech and international cuisine. Steaks are the speciality of the house.

The famous Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock and numerous shopping boulevards can be easily reached by public transport within 25 minutes. The Prague Castle district is one kilometre from the Hotel International Prague.

Hotel Silenzio **** (Na Karlovce 2565/1b, Prague 6)

Hotel Silenzio enjoys a peaceful location in Prague's green Hanspaulka district, a 5-minute metro ride to the Old Town Square and 10-minute tram ride to Prague Castle. It offers free WiFi and free private parking.

The Dejvická Metro Stop is 901 m away and the Thákurova Tram Station is 300 m from the Silenzio. Václav Havel Airport is accessible within a 20-minute bus ride.

All rooms in the nonsmoking Silenzio Hotel are air conditioned and elegantly furnished and feature a satellite TV.

There is also an inviting bar and a terrace to spend some relaxing moments. The infrared sauna can be used free of charge.

This modern, well equipped hotel is situated in the district of Dejvice. The Hotel Meda is located 2 metro stops from Charles Bridge and the Old Town. The metro stop is just 200 m away and Václav Havel Airport Prague is reachable within 25 minutes. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel offers: 37 spacious rooms, reception with 24-hour assistance, elevator.

Masarykova kolej *** / ** - CTU student residence (Thákurova 1, Prague 6)

Masarykova kolej is one of the accommodation facilities of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

It is conveniently located on the CTU campus, just 4 minutes from the conference venue and from the metro station Dejvická. All rooms in the *** hotel part are equipped with their own bathroom and WC and other amenities. In the ** student part are apartments with 2 separate closable double rooms with shared entrance hall, bathroom and kitchenette.

Practical hints

CLIMATE

September brings usually nice autumn weather: colder mornings and blazing afternoons. Temperatures of around 15°-18°C can be expected.

TRANSPORTATION

Arriving by plane: The Prague-Ruzyně Airport, located 15 km from the city center and approx. 7 km from the symposium venue, is served by many international airlines. The cost of a taxi from the Ruzyně Airport to the City is at present about 20 EUR, to the venue approx. 15 EUR. The shuttle bus service operates as well. City bus No. 119 will take you from the airport to the metro station Nádraží Veleslavín. Services as Uber (https://www.uber.com/cz/en/) or Bolt (https://bolt.eu/cs/) are available in Prague.

Arriving by train or by car: Prague can be easily reached by rail as well as by car. If you arrive by train, you will find a metro station (line C) at the Central Railway Station as well as at the Holešovice Railway Station. To get to the venue at the Czech Technical Univrsity (Thakurova 7) you need to get to the station Dejvicka of the line A.

City transportation: City transportation Prague has a comprehensive network of public transportation consisting of three metro lines, trams and buses. Single tickets or travel passes can be purchased at most newspaper stands and from the coin machines at metro stations. 3 day pass will be part of your registration kit.

Car rental: Most of the major car rental companies (e.g. Avis, Sixt) have their offices in Prague. Detailed information is available from the Symposium secretariat. We strictly recommend making reservations in advance.

Parking: Next to the venue is the National Technical Library (www.techlib.cz) with parking possibility in the basement for reasonable prices.

CURRENCY

The official currency is Czech Crown (Kč). Present average rate is 25 CZK for 1 EUR. Major credit cards are accepted in many shops, restaurants and hotels. You can buy Czech Crowns at banks and other authorized money exchange offices. We recommend to get CZK from ATMs provided by bank institutions (on the machine should be the word banka) because of good exchange rates. Traveler's cheques are accepted by leading banks.

VISA POLICY

Participants from most European countries and the USA can enter the Czech Republic without a visa. Other participants are advised to check the requirements at the closest Embassy or Consulate of the Czech Republic and to make their own arrangements. Detail information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. An official letter of invitation can be sent on request. It must be understood that such a letter can not grant any financial support.

INSURANCE

The Organizing Committee will not accept any liability for personal injuries or loss or damage of property belonging to Symposium participants and accompanying persons. Kindly check your personal insurance as well as your travel insurance (important for any cancellation fees, very often a part of your credit card contract).

ELECTRICITY

In the Czech Republic, the electricity supply is 230 V, 50 Hz.
